PROBLEM TO BE SOLVED: To restrain deterioration in exhaust emission, by restraining discharge of SOx from a S trap catalyst, oxidizing a large quantity of SOx by an oxidation catalyst and a filter, and discharging the SOx to an external part as white smoke, in the case of efficiently performing performance regeneration control to an exhaust emission control means, in an exhaust emission control system having the exhaust emission control means such as the S trap catalyst, the oxidation catalyst, the filter and an NOx catalyst and purifying exhaust gas of an internal combustion engine. SOLUTION: An S-Trap 110, the oxidation catalyst 111, the filter 112 and an NSR 113 are arranged in series in an exhaust emission control part 10. Exhaust gas is made to flow in the exhaust emission control part 10 from the NSR 113 side, by switching a first directional control valve 12 to a second position when performing the performance regeneration control.
