PROBLEM TO BE SOLVED: To provide an enlarging observation device which can be comparatively easily focused on an observation area set in a photographed image. SOLUTION: A control part calculates a focus value concurrently with moving processing for an imaging part submissive to operation from a user. The control part extracts a maximum focus value at which the degree of focus becomes maximum out of the calculated focus values, and stores a Z-axis position corresponding to the extracted maximum focus value. Furthermore, the control part displays present position display 62 showing the present Z-axis position, and maximum focus position display 66 showing the maximum focus position on a graph where predetermined scale spaces are put. When the user selects (clicks) the display area of the maximum focus position display 66, the control part determines it as the input of a focus instruction and moves the imaging part to the maximum focus position.
