PROBLEM TO BE SOLVED: To provide a display control system and a display control method which has an assisting function for viewing a scene missed by the viewer when he/she sees a picture on a television receiver, etc. while working. SOLUTION: The display control system has a television having a display screen for showing a received picture, a camera attached to the television for taking the image of a viewer seeing the television to obtain taken picture data, and a server comprising a view decider for deciding whether the viewer watches the television by analyzing taken picture data of the viewer obtained from the camera, a picture recorder for recording pictures received by the television, and a controller for actuating the picture recorder to record the picture received by the television when the view decider decides that the viewer is not watching the television.
