PROBLEM TO BE SOLVED: To prevent a rotating rod from remaining when a front rod is removed for removing a sheet material for housing a recording medium when a winding device is used, in a recording medium housing device of a large printer for housing by cutting a paper roll. SOLUTION: In this recording medium housing device having the sheet material for housing the recording medium guided by a paper discharge guide and lowered, the sheet material is held by the rotating rod and the front rod supported by the rotating rod. When the rotating rod is used, it is locked to a position for supporting the front rod at the forward lower side of the paper discharge guide.
