A compact ratchet drive, e.g. for position control in a vehicle seat, has a control arm (5) with a hand grip sliding between two lines of ratchet teeth ( 3, 4) and the movable support (2). One side of the control arm is fitted with a pair of grip pawls (8) in profiled recesses in the arm and with a linking spring to grip the ratchet teeth. The other side of the control arm is fitted with a pair of brake pawls (14) which grip the second line (5) of ratchet teeth. The ratchet control has an alternating action with the ratchet adjustment in discrete steps in each direction and without the risk of uncontrolled movement. |
