A power supply comprising a low-pass section for receiving the output voltage of a current output section to allow passage of the low-frequency component lower than a predetermined cutoff frequency, an overvoltage suppressing load section for consuming an overvoltage suppressed current which is at least part of the current outputted by the current output section when an instruction to turn on the load is given, and an overvoltage suppression control section for holding the overvoltage suppressing load section off when the output voltage of the current output section maintains the value less than an upper reference voltage which is the sum of a predetermined upper offset voltage and the voltage outputted by the low-pass section.
