PROBLEM TO BE SOLVED: To realize an authentication apparatus which correctly determines right or wrong of restored input image.

SOLUTION: The authentication apparatus 1 is equipped with; an image process part 30 which extracts coded information from an input image; and a determination part 40 which determines right or wrong of input image from extracted coded information. Since the image process part 30 is equipped with; a boundary line extraction part 34 which extracts a border line which divides the input image into a plurality of images from the input image; a shape determination part 36 which extracts a shape pattern formed on an extracted border line; and an encoding part 38 which encodes the border line based on the extracted shape pattern and makes it as encoded input data, and a decision part 40 is equipped with a right or wrong determination part 46 which compares the encoded input data with the encoded correct answer data which indicates correct answer and determines right or wrong of input image, the authentication apparatus 1 can determine correctly right or wrong of the images, such as jigsaw puzzle which is difficult of verification by encoding the border line.
