PROBLEM TO BE SOLVED: To provide hydrophilic precipitated silica which is especially suitable as a thickening agent and reinforcing agent in an elastomer mixture, in particular, in an RTV type one-component-based silicone rubber formulation. SOLUTION: The hydrophilic precipitated silica is characterized by having following physicochemical parameters: an equilibrium water content (at relative humidity (r.F) of 70%/20°C) of 0.5-5.0 mass%, a BET surface area of 50-250 m<SP>2</SP>/g, a CTAB surface area of 50-250 m<SP>2</SP>/g, and a DBP (anhydrous) absorption of 200-350 g/100g.
