PROBLEM TO BE SOLVED: To provide a contact probe which is free from a coil molten with a large current flow and can be manufactured, even if reduced in size. SOLUTION: The contact probe (1) includes a tubular conductive barrel (2) and a conductive plunger (5), mounted movably in the barrel (2) via a coil spring (3) insulation-coated on the outer periphery. An insulating cap (4) is provided in the barrel (2), and the base end of the coil spring (3) is inserted into the cap (4). Thus, the coil spring can be prevented from melting, even if a large current flows, when used in a product with a large inrush current. In addition, since the probe is formed such that the base end of the coil spring is inserted into the insulative cap, it is easy to manufacture, even when it is reduced in size.
