PROBLEM TO BE SOLVED: To provide a fluid pressure power steering system with simple structure capable of ensuring neutral rigidity and smoothly changing the rigidity of a torsion bar according to steering wheel operations. SOLUTION: This fluid pressure power steering system is provided with a torque transmission piston 4, with a variable axial position, intervened between the torsion bar 3 fixed to an output shaft 2 and an input shaft 1 to transmit torque between the torsion bar 3 and the input shaft 1. Driving-side fluid F is made to act to the torque transmission piston 4 and, as the fluid pressure increases, the axial position of the torque transmission piston 4 is set so that the torque transmission length from the input shaft 1 to the output shaft 2 through the torsion bar 3 becomes long.
