An organic memory device employing a laminated layer composed of an organic layer and a buckminster fullerene layer as an information storage element, and a manufacturing method thereof are provided to have various memory characteristics through simple processes. A unit cell(C2) comprises a first electrode(E1), a second electrode(E2) and an information storage element(17') which are laminated on a substrate(10) sequentially. The information storage element comprises an organic layer(11) formed on the first electrode, a buckminster fullerene layer(13) contacted with the second electrode. An organic complex material layer(12) is inserted between the organic layer and the buckminster fullerene layer.
