PROBLEM TO BE SOLVED: To prevent abnormal operation of an actuator in a disk drive unit. SOLUTION: An HDD 1 checks consistency between an AE port table stored in an EEPROM 25 and a port of an AE 13 actually connected to each head element part 12 before starting rotation of a magnetic disk 11 and moving the actuator 16 onto a user data area in start-up processing (POR: power on reset). Thus, even when an HDA is not consistent with a reused circuit board in manufacturing the HDD 1, abnormal operation of the actuator 16 is prevented. COPYRIGHT: (C)2008,JPO&INPIT
