PROBLEM TO BE SOLVED: To provide an apparatus for extending noodle strings which can accurately extend a noodle string used for producing noodles such as thin wheat noodles, iced noodles, wheat noodles, or Chinese noodles in a desired thickness. SOLUTION: A noodle string (11) is pulled out from the first collection tub (10) with a pulling mechanism (12), passed through an oval space (13Q) formed with the elongation rollers (13B, 13C) of a roller mechanism (13) to press and extend the noodle string, and then rolled in the second collection tub (16) with a roll-in mechanism (15), while rotating the second collection tub (16). When a looseness is formed in a prescribed quantity on the noodle string sent toward the roll-in mechanism, a signal from a controller (17) is given to a clutch mechanism (13S), and the transmission system of a driving force to the extension rollers through a clutch mechanism is disengaged.
