A large amount of chips and cooling liquid arises during machining of workpieces in machine tools. It is known that when said materials are being removed, an emergency stoppage of the machine tool can be required due to blocking of the transport path caused by large amounts of said materials. As a result, the workpiece and the tool can be damaged. According to the invention, this problem is solved by providing an insertable channel-like receptacle in the lower area of the machine tool (1) beneath the chip and cooling liquid outlet, said receptacle being formed by an inner groove (3) and a spaced outer groove (4) enveloping the inner groove, wherein the inner groove (3) has overflow holes in the side walls (5), which lead to the outer groove. If the inner groove (3) is blocked by chips, at least the fluid can still be removed. If further removal of the cooling liquid is then blocked, at least a large amount of said cooling fluid can be temporarily stored so that the tool machine can be stopped in a controlled manner under any circumstance and damage of the workpiece and the tool can be avoided. |
