An apparatus and a method for providing contents in a portable terminal are provided to enable a user to use various contents according to kinds of contents efficiently. An apparatus for providing contents includes a content provider and a portable terminal. The content provider provides various kinds of contents over a wired/wireless network. The portable terminal includes a plurality of touch screens(310-1,310-2), accesses the content provider through the wired/wireless network by using a portable USB modem(200) to download and store contents selected by a user, and outputs the contents on the touch screens according to a setting mode for the contents. The odd number pages of the contents are output to the first touch screen, and the even number pages of the contents are output to the second touch screen if the set mode is the first mode.
