<P>PROBLEM TO BE SOLVED: To solve the problem in a conventional layout system in which if the content of a container A is changed after a user's last browsing with a container B having a high priority, priority-based layout is performed regardless of the change in content of the container A to prevent oversight of the change content by setting importance to the containers and controlling layout processing of the containers depending on the importance. <P>SOLUTION: This information processing method comprises managing an unread or read state of a content to be inserted to a plurality of containers on a user basis and on a record basis in generation of an electronic document by inserting contents managed on a record basis into the plurality of containers according to a definition of document template.
