<P>PROBLEM TO BE SOLVED: To provide a liquid crystal display device capable of retaining strength of transparent substrates without damaging other components. <P>SOLUTION: A first polarizing plate 41 is joined to a transparent substrate 21. Likewise, a second polarizing plate 42 is joined to a transparent substrate 31. The first polarizing plate 41 is disposed so as to run off all sides of the transparent substrate 21. The second polarizing plate 42 is disposed so as to run off all sides of the transparent substrate 31. Further, the first polarizing plate 41 is disposed such that the length running off the transparent substrate 21 becomes the thickness of the first polarizing plate 41 or less and, at the same time, the second polarizing plate 42 is disposed such that the length running off the transparent substrate 31 becomes the thickness of the second polarizing plate 42 or less. <P>COPYRIGHT: (C)2008,JPO&INPIT |
