The system has a cabin assembly unit (1) with an oxygen supply, and a decentralized oxygen supply unit (2) with an oxygen outlet (13), where the decentralized oxygen supply unit is arranged in the cabin assembly unit. The decentralized oxygen supply unit is arranged for producing oxygenated air from the cabin air using electrical energy. The oxygenated air is provided to the oxygen supply of the cabin assembly unit using the oxygen outlet. An independent claim is also included for a method for producing oxygenated air from cabin air in an aircraft.
