The steering mechanism (1) has an axially relocatable steering rack (3) supported in a frame (2) and with a steering rack section (4) that includes teeth (5). Another steering rack section (8) carries an external thread (9), which is in contact with an internal thread (10) of an axially non-relocatable nut (11) e.g. ball nut. The latter steering rack section is rotatable and axially non-relocatable connected with the former steering rack section. The latter steering rack section is connected with a rotor (13) of a servomotor (14) e.g. permanent magnet-excited synchronous motor.
