The protection element has a fixing part (12) by which the contact protection element is fixed in the pushed-in position in a contact carrier. A protection part (11) is movable, in pushed-in position opposite the fixing part, between a protection position, in which the contact bushes are locked, and a contact position, in which the contact pins of a plug can be pushed-in or inserted into the contact bushes. A flexible mechanism (13) is provided between the fixing part and the protection part, which holds the protection part in the protection position. An independent claim is also included for a method for manufacturing an electrical coupling or electrical plug socket.
