The component (2) has a sealing flange (10) with a sealing surface (4) for sealing a connection at a adjacent housing structure. A wall area (12) is attached to the surface, and a connection strip is provided integral to the flange, where the wall area is attached on sides of the strip. The component is designed as an oil sump or an intermediate frame for the sump. An adhesive layer is provided on the sides between the strip and the wall area. The component is made of metal and plastic, the flange is made of metal, and the wall area is made of plastic. An independent claim is also included for a method for manufacturing a housing component.
