Disclosed is an amyloid-ß clearance enhancer comprising, as an active ingredient, the following component: a scavenger receptor protein, a protein having substantially the same activities as those of the scavenger receptor protein, or a salt thereof; or DNA comprising either of DNA which encodes the scavenger receptor protein or DNA which can hybridize with DNA having a nucleotide sequence complementary to that of the DNA encoding the scavenger receptor protein under stringent conditions and which encodes a protein having substantially the same activities as those of the scavenger receptor protein. The enhancer is useful for the clearance of amyloid-ß accumulated in the brain in Alzheimer's disease or the like.
