A backlight device, an LCD and an electronic device using the same are provided to make leakage light return to a light incident surface of a light guide plate by reflecting light with a prism sheet extending toward a light source and covering a gap between the light source and the light guide plate. A prism sheet extends toward a light source(6) and covers a top of a gap between the corresponding light source and a light guide plate(9). The prism sheet includes a first prism sheet(11) and a second prism sheet(12). The first prism sheet has an indented sectional shape by disposing a plurality of protrusions having a roughly triangular sectional shape at a surface in parallel, and is disposed such that a curve formed by the protrusions extends at a roughly right angle with respect to a light emission surface of the light source. The second prism sheet overlaps the first prism sheet, and is disposed such that a curve of protrusions having roughly triangular sectional shapes is extend in a roughly parallel direction with respect to the light emission surface of the light source. A top portion of the gap between the light source and the light guide plate is covered with the first prism sheet.
