PROBLEM TO BE SOLVED: To provide a control device of an electric power steering system to stabilize vehicle behavior by carrying out assist control so that an actual SAT follows a norm SAT by paying attention to an SAT of a vehicle. SOLUTION: This control device of the electric power steering system devised to drive and control a motor in accordance with an electric current command value by computing the electric current command value of the motor to give steering auxiliary force to a steering mechanism in accordance with steering torque and vehicle speed is provided with an SAT detection part to detect or estimate the SAT detection value, a norm SAT computing part to compute the norm SAT value i accordance with a steering angle and the vehicle speed and a correction part to correct the electric current command value by computing correcting quantity in accordance with the SAT detection value and the norm SAT value.
