PROBLEM TO BE SOLVED: To further disperse and open the fibers of a fiber bundle in a fiber bundle opening apparatus and a fiber bundle opening method. SOLUTION: In the fiber bundle opening apparatus 10 having a guide part 14 which is arranged approximately perpendicularly to the fiber bundle 12 direction and includes a contact surface coming into contact with the fiber bundle 12 and a first and second press parts 16 and 18 which are arranged on both sides of the guide part 14 and press the fiber bundle 12 to the contact surface of the guide part 14, the guide part 14 has an ultrasonic vibration generating device for ultrasonically vibrating the guide part 14. The guide part 14 opens a plurality of the fiber bundles supplied from a plurality of bobbins on the contact surface and gathers the opened fibers into a group.
