PROBLEM TO BE SOLVED: To provide a cylindrical object-manufacturing method capable of manufacturing a cylindrical object consisting of a combined plate in a short time at low cost. SOLUTION: The cylindrical object manufacturing method includes a material preparation step of preparing a rectangular flat base steel plate 3 and a rectangular flat mating plate 4, an overlapping step of overlapping the mating plate 4 on the base steel plate 3, a forming step of forming a combined steel plate 5 by joining the mating plate 4 with the base steel plate 3 by welding only a side along the direction forming the circumferential direction when a cylindrical shape is formed in future out of peripheral edges out of the overlapped mating plate 4, a curving step of curving the combined steel plate 5 in a cylindrical shape so that the mating plate 4 forms the inner circumferential side, a butting step of butting two sides of the combined steel plates 5 facing each other when the cylindrical shape is formed, and a cylindrical object forming step of forming the cylindrical object by welding the two butted sides to each other.
