PROBLEM TO BE SOLVED: To uniformly achieve high-accuracy optimum control of contrast. SOLUTION: The method for controlling contrast of a liquid crystal display aims to control contrast of an LCD module 3 by controlling a contrast value provided to an LCD driver 2 that supplies a driving voltage to the LCD module 3, and the method comprises: providing a plurality of contrast values X1 to Xn to the LCD driver 2; detecting driving voltages Y1 to Yn supplied from the LCD driver 2 to the LCD module 3 based on the respective contrast values X1 to Xn; differentiating the detected driving voltages Y1 to Yn by the corresponding contrast values X1 to Xn; and selecting a contrast value whose absolute differentiated value dY1/dX1 to dYn/Xn is equal to or lower than a prescribed threshold.
