PROBLEM TO BE SOLVED: To provide a covering structure, easily coping with breakage and deterioration of a cover plate in covering the expansion and contraction gap of the wall balustrade under a strict condition with a cover plate. SOLUTION: In a first expansion and contraction gap covering structure, the cover plate 10 formed to be conformable to the sectional shape of the wall balustrade is constructed to cover the expansion and contraction gap on the wall balustrades 7, 8 opposite to each other with the expansion and contraction gap 9 interposed between them, and the cover plate is fixed to one wall balustrade of the wall balustrades. In a second expansion and contraction gap covering structure, recessed parts 39, 40 conformable to the thickness of the cover plate 10 and allowing the movement of the cover plate 10 when the wall balustrades expand and contract are formed at least on the inner surfaces 15, 16 of the wall balustrades in the first structure, the cover plate 10 formed to be conformable to the sectional shape in the recessed part of the wall balustrade is constructed on the wall balustrade to cover the expansion and contraction gap in the recessed part, and the cover plate is fixed to the other balustrade with the moving gap left in the recessed part of one wall balustrade.
