MOBILE TERMINAL HAVING ZIGBEE COMMUNICATION FUNCTION AND DATA SERVICE METHOD USING THE MOBILE TERMINAL

A mobile terminal having a Zigbee communication function and a data service method using the mobile terminal are provided. The mobile terminal includes a transceiver for Zigbee communication and a processor. The transceiver uses an Institute of Electrical and Electronics Engineers (IEEE).802.15.4 communication protocol which is a low-rate and low-power protocol and is communication technology which is the most suitable to the Zigbee communication. The processor includes an operating system (OS) program based on a wireless Internet platform for interoperability (WIPI) which is a wireless Internet platform standard. Data communication of the mobile terminal is performed by forming a network with another terminal having the Zigbee communication function. The mobile terminal includes a separate user database and determines whether to display a data message based on information stored in the user database. Accordingly, free data service can be provided within a short distance or in a local area.
