It is possible to effectively reduce an amount of image data captured by using a wide-angle lens such as a fish-eye lens. An imaging data compression method using the wide-angle lens (9) includes: a step (ST4) for using a rectangular captured image including a circular image captured by the wide-angle lens (9) to generate a rectangular reduced image to which a plurality of pixel data in a predetermined circular range are assigned and which has a smaller number of pixels than the rectangular captured image; and a step (ST5) for compressing the rectangular reduced image.
