The music contents of plural different formats present e.g., on a sole personal computer are to be handled in a unified fashion as the copyright protection of the contents is maintained. An application for reproduction (A) 311 manages the music contents distributed from an EMD server A 4-1. A comprehensive contents management unit 315 manages the music contents distributed from an EMD server A 4-3 to transfer the music contents to a portable device 6-3. The UsageRule of music contents managed by the application for reproduction (A) 311 has the format different from that of the UsageRule of music contents managed by the comprehensive contents management unit 315. A reception interface 316 for EMD converts this format to handle plural contents in a unified fashion.
