A microwave oven having a slide type tray is provided to assemble a tray to a cavity properly by a rack and pinion gear mechanism and to place food at the center of the tray. A microwave oven having a slide type tray includes a cabinet(70) which as an opened side where a door is installed, an inner case(72) which is installed in side of the cabinet to partition a cavity(74) and electric part compartment, a sliding block(80) which slides on a side of the inner case, an electric motor which is installed on the sliding block, a roller guide which is connected to a shaft of the motor, a tray(96) which is seated on the roller guide to place food to be cooked, and a mechanism to slide the sliding block.
