PROBLEM TO BE SOLVED: To provide a composite material for the formation of a sliding face for obtaining high wear resistance required for a sliding member with ceramics as a counter part material, a bearing part to be applied with sedimentary wear erosion or the like and to provide a sliding member. SOLUTION: This composite material has a structure in which, as hard particles, fine particles with the particle size of 10μm or less (P1) and coarse particles with the particle size of 75 to 200μm (P2) are dispersed so as to be coexistent into a metal matrix (M). The total content of the hard particles is 40 to 80 vol.%. More preferably, the content of the fine particles (VA) is 5 vol.% or more, the contnet of the coarse particles (VB) is 30 vol.% or more, and the volume ratio therebetween, i.e., (VB/VA) is 1-7. As the hard particles, carbides (such as WC and TiC), borides (such as MoB and TiB) and nitrides (such as TiN and CrN) are used, and, as the matrix metal, a Co base alloy, a Ni base alloy, a Ti base alloy or the like are used. Using a mixture of the metal powder and the hard particle powder as the raw material, the same is formed as a sintered body by a hot isostatic pressing method or as a build-up weld layer by powder plasma welding or the like.
|
