A device for supporting or spacing a plurality of high-tension cables comprises a frame of interconnected members including an integral leverage system, the members being provided with jaws each of which defines a cable clamping assembly with one belonging to an adjacent member, the cable being inserted in the jaws at an opening position of the device, the leverage system then being pulled with a substantially straight-line pull resulting in a mechanical advantage in the gripping pressure exerted on the cables by the jaws which eventually grip the cables. Members 10, 12, 14 and 16, are each pivotally interconnected to the adjacent one, members 16 linking the members 14 and being themselves movably joined at 17 to produce a toggle leverage action when pulled down. Cables 23 are placed in the jaws 22 and when the members 16 are straightened by a downward pull all four cables are clamped. The device is preferably constructed of conducting material. |
