An apparatus for driving an engine is provided to prevent unstable operation of an engine driving unit due to the voltage of a battery during reset of a micro processor. An apparatus for driving an engine includes a micro processor(13), a level detection unit(15), a hold timer(17), an output control unit(19), and an output driving unit(21). The micro processor operates by the output voltage of a regulator(11), and generates a control signal of a predetermined level for driving an engine driving unit. The level detection unit receives the control signal of the predetermined level from the micro processor, and outputs a control signal having a predetermined voltage. The hold timer outputs a start voltage supplied from an external source over a preset time in accordance with the control signal of the micro processor generated during reset of the micro processor. The output control unit generates a driving signal for controlling the engine driving unit in accordance with the output signal of the hold timer and the output signal of the level detection unit. The output driving unit outputs a predetermined voltage in accordance with the driving signal output from the output control unit, and provides the voltage to the engine driving unit.
