An apparatus for automatically inspecting the surface of a plating strip by using a grindstone is provided to prevent the scratch of the plating strip surface by absorbing vibration of the plating strip. An apparatus for automatically inspecting the surface of a plating strip(12) by using a grindstone includes frames(14), an inspecting unit(20), and a driving unit. The frames stand at both sides of the plating strip. The inspecting unit inspecting the surface of the plating strip has a grindstone fixing frame(24) for fixing the grindstone, a cylinder having a cylinder rod and a cylinder head and moving the stone fixing frame to selectively contact the grindstone to the plating strip, and a tube inserted between the stone fixing frame and the cylinder and pressing the surface of the plating strip by the grindstone. The driving unit is installed in the frame to move the inspecting unit horizontally.
