Recyclable material is comminuted, mixed together and added to an existing heavy-coating formulation (41) as a functional additive. A process for producing a heavy-coating formulation comprises the following steps: (A) collecting recyclable material; (B) comminuting the collected material into dosable pieces; (C) mixing the comminuted material; (D) adding the mixture to an existing heavy-coating formulation as a functional additive; and (E) homogenizing the formulation. An independent claim is also included for a carpet tile comprising one or more layers of this heavy-coating formulation and displaying at least one property chosen from higher dimensional stability, increased resilience, improved antistatic properties and better fire retardant properties.
