A data recording method of an optical disc recorder is provided to prevent data recording error at the outer peripheral area of an optical disc by performing a data recording operation selectively at the highest recording speed according to a predicted optical power value. A data recording method of an optical disc recorder includes a step of detecting an actual optical power value by performing the most adequate power calculating operation in a specific inner peripheral area of an optical disc(S10); a step of estimating an optical power value of the highest recording speed by comparing the actual optical power value with a reference optical power value(S12,S13); and a step of deciding a data recording operation at the highest recording speed selectively according to the support of the computed predicted optical power value(S14,S15,S16).
