A spring assembly manufacturable at low cost, comprising a coiled spring (1) and a pair of retainers (2) disposed at both end parts of the coiled spring (1). Each of the retainers (2) comprises a plate member (3) brought into contact with the end part of the coiled spring (1) and recessed, at its center part, to the inside of the coiled spring (1) and a hook member (4) fixed to the plate member (3) and holding the free length of the coiled spring (1) in a reduced state. The hook member (4) comprises a strut part (4b) suspended from the plate member (3) and extending to the inside of the coiled spring (1) and a folded part (4c) folded back at the tip of the strut part (4b) and formed continuously to each other. The hook member is characterized in that the folded part (4c) is positioned in an area horizontally deviated from the center axis of the coiled spring (1) and the tips of the strut part (4b) and the folded part (4c) are opposed to each other along the center axis of the coiled spring (1). |
