A method for classifying digital images for high quality printing is provided to classify the digital images into high quality image suitable for printing without editing, conditional image suitable for the printing after editing or other processing, and image unsuitable for the printing by using software automatically determining image quality. A digital image is recorded in a memory block. The stored digital image is analyzed by attribute including brightness, a shaking level, and red-eye detection. Metadata for defect of the digital image is recorded. The digital image is classified into a non-defect image, a correctable image, and a non-correctable image depending on an analysis result, and each classified image is allocated to a corresponding sector of the memory block. The classified digital images and the metadata are stored to the memory block. Defect information of the digital image is expressed by a predetermined flag in the metadata including an Exif(EXchangeable Image Format).
