METHOD FOR GIVING RESISTANCE TO WEED CONTROL COMPOUNDS TO PLANTS

A method for giving resistance against herbicide to plants is provided to protect desired plants from herbicides when they selectively remove weeds from desired plants, thereby improving growth and production amount of desired plants. A method for giving resistance against herbicide to a plant comprises the steps of: introducing a gene encoding a protein having (a) specific affinity to materials related to weed-controlling activity of herbicide, (b) no ability of modifying the related materials, and (c) no framework region of a variable region in immunoglobulin into a plant through transformation; and expressing the gene within the plant, wherein the protein is ferrochelatase or ferrochelatase variant in which the organelle transit signal is deleted, and the ferrochelatase or ferrochelatase variant is derived from a plant such as barley or cucumber.
