A broadcasting receiver for generating additional information of high quality audio files, and the method for controlling the same are provided to store additional information automatically while converting audio data received through an audio channel into MP3 files and store only user desired particular information selectively. A broadcasting receiver for generating additional information of high quality audio files, and the method for controlling the same comprise the following steps of: receiving a broadcasting signal of an audio channel; demultiplexing the received broadcasting signal to video data and audio data; displaying the demultiplexed video data; reading video data of a particular area among the displayed video data; determining additional information of audio data from read texts; and inserting the additional information in a header part of the high quality audio file.
