A measuring instrument for sideline location of a flowmeter is provided to install flowmeters at regular intervals, dividing the width of a river exactly. A measuring instrument for sideline location of a flowmeter includes a support(10), a winding reel(30), a ruler(50), a cover member, a binding unit, and a spiral spring(5). The support is installed at the one side of a river. The winding reel is rotatably installed inside the cover member, and has a rotating rod(31) at the upper part and a roller(40) having first and second dividing plates(44,45) between upper and lower plates(42,43) to be divided into first to third parts. The ruler has first to third rulers(51,52,53) wound around the first to the third parts of the reel. The cover member surrounds the winding reel, and has an opening part which the ruler enters. The binding unit is installed at the other side of the river, and holds the ends of the ruler. The spiral spring is installed at the upper part of the winding reel, and has one end fixed to the winding reel and the other end fixed to the cover member.
