An adjusting unit (8) adjusts a length and a position of the longitudinal element to align an axis of the element with the axis (5) and adjusts the length of the element to cause deconstruction and collapsing of the structure. #CMT# : #/CMT# An independent claim is also included for a method for a longitudinal trailing vortex structure controlling device. #CMT#USE : #/CMT# Used for controlling a longitudinal trailing vortex structure near a lateral post of a wind screen and a rear window of a motor vehicle e.g. streamlined car, in movement. #CMT#ADVANTAGE : #/CMT# The adjusting unit adjusts the length of the longitudinal element to cause the deconstruction and collapsing of the trailing vortex structure, thus reducing forces and pressure variations, and hence reducing an aerodynamic drag of a motor vehicle. The device eliminates the utilization of an aspiration and inflation system which is troublesome to implement on the vehicle.
