The handle has an axial bore (10) to hold the shaft (3) of a tool (2). The shaft has a peripheral ring-shaped seat groove (5). The grip has a retainer bore at right angles to the axial holder bore. A first section of the retainer bore has a larger diameter than a locking pin (14) passing through it. The pin is held positively and/or non-positively and non-moveable in a second section. Application of pressure to the free end of the pin while located in the first section deforms the pin elastically to move it out of the axial holder bore. The handle is of metal and has a partial anti-slip plastic coating defined by a colored plastic ring (17). The color of the ring acts as a code color for the diameter of the holder bore. The shaft also has a holder for tool bits.
