<p><P>PROBLEM TO BE SOLVED: To provide an automatic mapping method of image data that reduces artifact and allows automation. <P>SOLUTION: The method comprises: expressing image data of an image as a luminance value; determining a key value as a function of the average luminance value of the image, the minimum luminance value and the maximum luminance value of the image; and creating the offset-adjusted luminance value, including application of offset which is a function of a determined key value to each luminance value; and calculating a tone reproduction curve for at least one region of the image, including the application of a mapping function to the luminance adjustment offset value. <P>COPYRIGHT: (C)2008,JPO&INPIT</p> |
