PROBLEM TO BE SOLVED: To provide a simple and high-yield method for preparing a bisphosphine oxide. SOLUTION: The method for preparing a bisphosphine oxide represented by formula (1) comprises steps of causing an organometallic reagent represented by a Grignard reagent to react with an diorganophosphite, causing the resulting reaction product to react with an intermediate halogenated compound to form a phosphine oxide represented by formula (5), and causing the resulting phosphine oxide represented by formula (5) to react with a phosphorous compound comprising a P-H bond capable of bonding to a double bond by an addition reaction in the presence of a catalyst.
