摘要 <p>In a process to operate an automotive exhaust system (1), oxygen is fed to and surrendered from a holder (8) to an exhaust gas treatment unit (7). In the process, a quantity of oxygen is determined within the oxygen holder and is used to modify the rich/lean cycle in accordance with the varying quantity of oxygen so determined. The quantity of oxygen is determined within the oxygen holder and is used as a parameter for setting the rich/lean cycle. The cyclical change in the quantity of oxygen stored is used to influence the the exhaust gas temperature or the oxygen storage unit. Further claimed is an automotive exhaust gas treatment assembly in which the temperature is regulated in the oxygen holder (8), and/or sulfur is removed without interruption during the switch between lean and rich operation.</p>
