<P>PROBLEM TO BE SOLVED: To improve reception characteristics while further improving error-rate characteristics by reducing a drop in linearly-compressed power, in a communication system for transmitting a transmission symbol while spreading it in a time-axis direction. <P>SOLUTION: A peak power reduction system is composed of a spread processor 12 for spreading the transmission symbol in the time-axis direction; a power measurement 151 which measures peak power as a maximum value of transmission power for each chip constituting the spread transmission symbol, so as to compare the peak power with a prescribed threshold; a compression processor 152 for linearly compressing a transmission signal of a chip, so as to further reduce the peak power than a threshold corresponding to the comparison result obtained by the power measurement 151 regarding the chip whose peak power exceeds the threshold; and an amplifier 153 for amplifying the transmission power for each chip. <P>COPYRIGHT: (C)2008,JPO&INPIT |
