<P>PROBLEM TO BE SOLVED: To optimize the lightness of a principal object (e.g. a face region of a person) in matching with the preference of a user without changing existing automatic exposure control, an operating point of an imaging element, and a gradation processing condition from a linear image to a nonlinear image. <P>SOLUTION: An imaging apparatus 1 acquires a linear image formed by photographing (S4, S12), performs discrimination processing of a photographing scene on the basis of the linear image (S14), acquires a correction processing condition on the basis of an operation entry (S15), establishes a first gradation processing condition for lightness adjustment to the linear image and a second gradation processing condition for hardness and luminance width adjustment on the basis of a scene discrimination result and the correction processing condition (S16), applies gradation conversion processing to the linear image on the basis of the first gradation processing condition (S7), performs gradation conversion processing for converting the linear image into the nonlinear image (S8), and applies gradation conversion processing to the nonlinear image on the basis of the second gradation processing condition (S9). <P>COPYRIGHT: (C)2008,JPO&INPIT |
